Google Apps Standard Edition: still free

Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 11:01 AM

We've heard some questions about why the link to Google Apps Standard Edition disappeared from the Enterprise Apps home page, so we wanted to share the answer. As we explored a few design changes to the page, the link to Standard Edition was inadvertently dropped, although the free version of Apps was, as always, available here. We've put the link back where it belongs so that it's easy to find.

We have no intention of eliminating
Standard Edition, and we apologize for any confusion.

In other news, we've taken Google Apps out of beta today.
You can read more about that here.

Sweet, thanks! I was trying to set up some new clients with G-apps, and was frustrated that I had to search all over for the link to the free Standard edition. Thanks!

I love you, Google Apps.

I wondered why the link was removed from the front page, it had gotten a bit difficult to find.

Why don't you offer an intermediate edition?
For many companies that have 100MB mailboxes and no advanced communication and collaboration softwares, a leap to 25 GB at 40 € (50 USD) per account is a big investment.
A paid 7GB version for a lower value will defintely be a plus to allow the transition.

Thanks for this clarification. I'm a high school teacher who used Google Apps in my chemistry classes last year. I did everything from creating a group periodic table web site to group lab reports. I'm in the process of reworking my web sites and accounts for next year and the loss of standard edition would make my planning a LOT more difficult. Thanks Google!

Phew - I was sweating the dozens of companies I turned onto Standard Edition calling me like it was my fault. Thank you for keeping your promise, Google. Now if only you would let me integrate Google Voice into Google Apps...

It took me a long time to find the standard edition last week when I was setting up a client's new email platform. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous till I found it.

Thanks. Google Apps is a great. Can a paid standard (storage+features) edition get enhanced email security features?

Hi, I would want to know, is it possible to migrate a company webmail to Google Apps Standard edition(with the previous emails remain and imported)? If it is possible, then how to do it?
